How to Care for Your Invisalign® Aligner

Posted .

Are you aligning your smile with Invisalign®? If so, you need to do everything you can to keep your aligner in tip-top shape. This is important because if you don’t care for your aligner, there is a chance your smile could suffer alignment and even dental consequences. So, please keep your aligner clean, pristine, and functional. To help you do so, our orthodontist, Dr. Nathan Lester, is happy to give you some instructions.

-Rinse your aligner each time you take it out of your mouth. It’s best to rinse it with warm, not hot, water because it can wash the saliva, bacteria, and food particles away.

-Soak your aligner regularly to keep it clean. You can soak it in the specialized cleaning crystals or in denture cleaner.

-Brush your aligner with a soft-bristled toothbrush and clear, antibacterial soap. This helps eliminate bacteria and plaque. Just be careful as you brush. If you’re rough, it can scratch the appliance.

-Clean your teeth by brushing and flossing regularly. This is important because your aligner covers your teeth and traps food particles inside. This can promote dental issues.
